Scrolling through all the “new year - new me” posts has me convinced that at least one of you would have listed, or thought about, your resolutions for this new chapter.
“Live more active, happy and mindful” is just one of many inspiring posts I spotted during my first of many (because let’s face it, I am obsessed!) Instagram scrolling sessions this week.
And even though I love to see my favorite bloggers or influencers set their 2019 goals so publicly, I’ve never been one to write down my own. Mostly because I’m hard on myself when I can’t accomplish a goal by society’s “perfect” standards (I bet there’s some of you who feel the same insecurities when you see others’ social media highlights).
‘Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle, or your middle to someone else's end’
It wasn’t until I came across Tim Hiller’s quote earlier this morning, that I had a change of heart. It goes something like this; ‘Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle, or your middle to someone else's end’. This was just the “ah-ha” I needed.
I have decided that this will be the year that I write down my goals and smash them by MY standards (or try to smash them, at least) and no one else’s. After all, they are mine!
And to make this goal-setting task more interesting, I asked some of our fitphyt gals to join me in sharing their goals. Who knows, you might just find your own “ah-ha” moment in their words...
“2019 will be my year!!! The year were I take on new challenges, break personal records and above all getting to have the most fun.” – Sporty girl Martinique is one of those energetic souls you want around you all the time. Her zest for life is contagious!
“My goal for 2019 is to be more positive and getting fitter with my fitphyt leggings #super-comfy”- Remember! “Happiness is found when you stop comparing yourself with other people” - Miché Houston is a professional globetrotter who deals with jet-lag on the daily and it amazes me how she’s always so happy!
“I’m going to start 2019 with a punch, a boxing punch, that is! And I’ll do so while wearing some Confetti Glitz Leggings!” – Ladies, I have been to a kick-boxing class with Mari-Louise, and believe me when I say this girl packs a mean punch!
“After taking the plunge to complete a 200 hour Yoga Teaching Training course in 2018, my goal for 2019 is to make my dream of teaching yoga to other like minded women who want to keep their bodies and minds strong come true. And I’ll do it wearing my Bloomerang Blanc leggings because while I used to be afraid of anything but black leggings I’ve found wearing some color and being comfortable in a perfectly fitting legging actually makes me feel super confident and happy.” – I was lucky enough to attend a class with Lou -a class that opened up a new world to me. I have faith that she will change lives and touch hearts in 2019!
“I made a pact with myself two years ago that I would make my health as important as my work. If you think about it, what’s more important than your health? Without health you have nothing and you may not be able to work. So, don’t therefore put off exercise or healthy living because of work or for anything that doesn’t impact your health.” – Wow, what a reminder that we should always make time to put ourselves first. The lovely Azola makes up one half of the energetic duo #twofitminds – two ladies who are changing the fitness game in Dubai!
And as for me, here goes nothing…
My goal for 2019 is to be 100% authentic and to ‘own’ all of the good and bad that comes with the journey in building fitphyt. I promise to you, my fitphyt force, that I won’t hide behind a keyboard. You will see the ‘real me’ (both the good and bad) and I will put myself ‘out there’ so that we create a space where women embrace each other – messy hair and all. I will transform OUR brand to have a significant impact on the world and for all women to enjoy what we hope to offer: happiness.
I hope you’ll find motivation in the words you read. These come from real women, with big hearts.
And if you feel like writing down your goals, share them with me at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can support each other as we journey through 2019!
